2015 10 14: Studio Work 3/3

    Last but not least of this sharing session is the most interesting among the three: theme of Chinese Divine Creature. 
   The commonly known four: Dragon/青龍, Tiger/白虎, Phoenix/朱雀, Turtle x snake/玄武, together with the additional Qi Lin/麒麟. For those who is not familiar with them, they play an important role in several different contexts like direction, season, elements and Ba Gua. Informations can be easily found online. 
   Back to the creative process of this theme, additional story was given to form a more tangible base to adapted into the nature of slot game, and henceforth the design of the central temple. This was steered to be a moving island on a shell of a giant (really giant) turtle.
   I then proceeded to produce in-game icons/symbols. More secondary divine or/and mythical creature found in Chinese folklore were introduced to fill up the number, which was definitely a plus for the vibrancy of the scene. Other relevant objects were taken into consideration, too. Other than that, several art directions was explored and discussed for this theme, on both icons and backgrounds.
   It was a shame that this theme was stopped here. But nonetheless I had fun working it, and I hope you have a good time viewing, too.

2015 10 14: Studio Work 2/3

   Part 2 of the studio work sharing is a game concept with Chinese historical figure Xiang Yu (項羽) as the theme, together with his lover, Yu Ji (虞姬) as secondary emphasis.
   For this theme, I was given the chance to experiment with the art direction, from pure painting to as far as picking up Blender to create the character with vertices and different rendering. 
In the end 2D was decided, and so I proceeded to produce icon/symbols proposal, several revision were generated for the adjustment of consistency in the aspect of concept relevancy and treatment.
   Then, we worked on in-game backgrounds. The main game is always the focus, and there is what I showed. But usually there will be more to be prepared as there are feature(s) designed for respective games.
   Finally, title and assets with promotional purpose in mind are conceptualized. For former, it is shown last and for latter, it would be the full-body illustration shown together with the art direction.

2015 10 14: Studio Work 1/3

   Here starts of sharing of work I have done for my current day job studio.
   *Disclaimer: we constantly generate theme/concepts in the studio, to be stored and ready-to-use when the time comes which rely on several variables. So these are not on 'shipped' concept.
   This one is a game with Pirate theme, to be made into a slot game. As you can see, I picked a bit from every steps of the project: high level loose concept,  regulation-specified concept revisions of icons/symbols with reel layout,together with background, to animation/transitions, and finally promotional material.
